With Musk’s many years of spewing vile into the public realm via social media, his enormous tech business empire that now includes his social media platform of choice, and buying his way into the halls of government and pushing buttons of enormous consequence with a ketamine abuse haze of detachment and disregard for the downstream impacts on human lives, it’s hard to know where to big in articulating why one should protest this man, and why I do.
I see in Musk a tremendous danger of both short and long term systemic consequences to people, values, and places I hold dear as I am certain many millions of Americans now feel. Musk is trying to paint himself a grand reformer, and while I have long believed this country is in dire need of transformative reform, I see no reason to trust the motives of Musk. Not with his staggering conflicts of interest with government contracts worth many billions of dollars and access to data about competitors, his eugenicist impulses, and who is nearly as prone to lies and gross exaggeration as the figurehead in the White House he purchased.
In the sections below I’ll elaborate on more specifics on the motivations to oppose and to protest Elon Musk.
